Former Miner Cara Nordin is in her first year with the UTEP coaching staff as a program coordinator.

Nordin, who graduated in Dec. 2008 with a degree in psychology, will assist in all aspects of the program.

She was a four-year letterwinner (2004, '05, '07 & '08) for head coach Kevin Cross and was a part of the second-winningest class in program history. Nordin ranks second at the school in assists (25), fourth in points (77) and sixth in goals (77).

She captained the 2008 Miner squad, which went 13-7-1 en route to extending the pogram's record streak of both a winning season and at least 10 victories to seven.

The native of Kamloops, B.C., also starred in the classroom and in the community. She made the College of Science Dean's List for the past four years and was a four-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll as well. Nordin was also a member of the National Honor Society.

An active member of UTEP's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Nordin volunteered her time at numerous local schools and is a special needs volunteer at Independent Networking, Inc.

Nordin is the daughter of Steve and Roberta Johnston.
