Men Cross Country Team

EL PASO, Texas -The UTEP men's team claimed the first three spots in the unscored event. Ng'Ojoy completed the race in 20:23 to pace all runners that included athletes from New Mexico State University and El Paso Community College.

Patrick Mutai, also a senior, finished second with a time of 20:36., while Nicodemus Ng'etich crossed for a third place finish at 21:11.

"We improved significantly from last week," head coach Paul Ereng said. "I'm very pleased with today's results because I think that the team understands the importance of improving our times and performances from week to week.

Aggrey Chirchir gave the Miners a fifth place finish at 21:48. Dominic Tanui rounded up the Miners in an overall sixth place finish with a time of 22:01.

Jepchirchir Kigen paced the UTEP women when she crossed at 17:05 to finish third overall.

Right behind Kigen was sophomore Happy Mary Bacia completing the race in 17:10 enough for an overall fourth place.

Delia Cesar was the third Miner to cross the finish line with a time of 18:09. Kitria Stewart, 19:13, and Megan Chojnacki, 19:25, finished 15th and 17th respectively.

The Miners will remain in the southwest next week when they compete at the New Mexico State Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M. on Saturday, Sept. 20.
