The UTEP will send 10 individuals and one relay to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif., from June 6-9.

Eight Miners earned automatic bids, while Oludamola Osayomi (women’s 100-meter dash), Dominic Kiprono Tanui (men’s 800-meter run) and the men’s 1,600-meter relay of John Alipio, Daniel Ward, Tanui and Elias Koech gained at-large bids on Tuesday.

UTEP’s automatic qualifiers on the men’s side include Koech in the 800, Alex van der Merwe in the javelin, Patrick Mutai in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Japheth Ng'ojoy in the 10,000-meter run and Stephen Samoei in the 10,000.

On the women’s side, Erma Gene Evans (javelin), Fatimoh Muhammed (800) and Nelly Tchayem (triple jump) were automatic qualifiers.

Evans enters the competition ranked second in the javelin with a season-best throw of 185-2 (56.45), while Muhammed has the fourth-best time in the 800 (2:03.03). Osayomi (sixth in the 100) and Tchayem (eighth in the triple jump) also rank in the top 10 in the NCAA this season.
